Interstellar

Interstellar is a science-fiction film with a very non-sci-fi feel to it. It is an overall enjoyable way to spend nearly three hours.

Despite its length, the film manages to keep viewers' attention throughout. There is a good deal of more-or-less predictable moments, but it will still keep you guessing from time to time. Plot (worm)holes are kept to a minimum, and the film's structure is satisfactory. Fans of straight science-fiction shouldn't be disappointed, but the film also appeals to a wider audience. Certain plot elements introduce a tendency to soppiness, but it is generally well handled and only lasts a few moments at a time.

The dialogues are easy to follow and do not upstage other aspects of the film, and there are a few good jokes to add a little spice. From a visual perspective, Interstellar is very impressive. Many scenes were visibly shot on location or the "old-school" way with little use of computer-generated imagery, and this adds greatly to the enjoyment of the film, because it makes everything seem a lot more real. The shots of the exteriors of spacecrafts are especially charming.

Interstellar is a fun-to-watch film that will please a wide audience. It's rated PG-13, but it should be safe enough for smaller children as well. Certain parts of the film might make you think about society and people in general, but mainly it's a good piece of action-packed science-fiction.
