Despicable Me

Despicable Me is an excellent film for the whole family. It works on so many levels, so children and adults might appreciate it for different reasons.

The first thing worth mentioning is that this animated family film is also a parody of the genre. It purposely mocks similar films with its predictable plot and absurd characters, but it adds new twists and everything is spiced with a very dry type of humour. It also features other more hidden layers of parody and fun. What differentiates this film from other modern family films is that everything is the other way round - the characters seem to be one-dimensional, but they are actually very complex and feature characteristics not directly important to the plot (as it should be in a good film).

The enjoyment of this extremely amusing film is further amplified by the use of high-quality music. Chances are you'll want to watch Despicable Me more than once.
