Shaun of the Dead

Shaun of the Dead works on so many levels. It is a great parody film, but it also works on its own. It has everything a good film should have.

It has extremely layered dialogue. Some of it is used for foreshadowing and some for jokes. There is quite a lot of humour coming from combining different layers of the film - there are some brilliant scenes featuring background action, for example.

Shaun of the Dead is more than just a zombie film. It poses questions about the society and the extend to which people do or don't include themselves in other people's business. Despite these "depths", the film stays light and fun to watch. A good thing to note is that it is not too gruesome for the type of film it is, so it might even be suitable for viewers not usually interested in zombie apocalypse films. It has some scary bits, but they are usually diffused by humour.

Shaun of the Dead is a very well made film. It might not be for everyone, but it is definitely not just for zombie film fans. It is certainly something very interesting and fun to see.
