The Invention of Lying

The Invention of Lying is a good idea made into a bad film.

It is supposed to be a romantic comedy, but the closest you'll get to laughing while watching it is an uncomfortable tingling in your stomach caused mainly by embarrassment. But if the film was aiming to shock, then it didn't go far enough. It is obviously trying for a criticism of religion & society, but there are mere hints of these, and it is not supported by the film's structure, so it is another fail.

Other than that, it is also incredibly predictable - even for a romantic comedy - not to mention soppy and a bit depressing. In conclusion, The Invention of Lying is probably not worth your time.
