About Time is a sweet romantic comedy with a hint of sci-fi. Your appreciation of it will most certainly depend on what you're expecting. This film is very sweet, slightly sentimental, and very fun to watch. If you generally like Richard Curtis's films, you won't be disappointed. You'll probably notice that the jokes in this film have impeccable timing, which is partly due to the acting. The camera is also very good, which greatly adds to the film's enjoyability. Unfortunately, there are some major problems with structure. There are too many small climaxes, and they are often a minute or two too far apart, which creates short but noticeable dull places. The film is over two hours long - perhaps it would perform much better if it were cut down by half an hour or so. Despite this, the story is quite straight forward and easy to follow. One could argue that there are several plot holes, but it depends on your understanding of the film as a whole. About Time is a romantic comedy with an interesting idea, and it will probably be loved by some and not so much by others. It is not the kind of film that everyone would have to see, but if you're looking for something fun, tender, and a bit different, then it is a perfect choice.
